Elated and proud of representing her film on such a big platform and taking a piece from her mother’s creations with her, Sanya took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note dedicating it to her mother. Sanya says, “This one’s for you, Mumma. From a young age, my mother was my personal stylist, designing and stitching clothes for my sister and me. She devoted herself not only to raising us but also to keeping us fashionably updated. Mumma always told me how she dreamt of studying fashion, but it wasn’t financially feasible at the time. Instead, she poured all her creativity into dressing us beautifully – so much so that I still seek her advice before any big event. I wanted to honour her by wearing one of her creations at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for the screening of a film close to my heart, Mrs.”

Sanya adorned diamond polki pieces strung with pearls sheeshpatti in jadau art celebrating the rich heritage and meticulous craftsmanship of Shri Paramani Jewels.

Styled by celebrity fashion stylists Manisha Melwani and Bidipto Das, Sanya’s makeup was done by Natasha Mathias Dsouza. Another highlight of this Indian contemporary look was the jewellery she wore with the ensemble. Embodying the rich heritage and meticulous craftsmanship of Shri Paramani Jewels, the traditional jewellery featured a sheeshpatti (decorative headband) consisting of diamond polki, pearls, jadau art and jhumkas (earrings). Sanya completed the look with a bag from Tasna. The overall vibe of Sanya’s style looked straight out of Sharmila Tagore’s look in the film, Kashmir Ki Kali.

To doll, both my girls gave me immense pleasure during your growing years and also today, when you wear my creations on such big platforms, I feel proud and grateful to almighty. God bless you, I love you!”
