The BJP will play bets on the Dhindsa family in the by-elections to the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat. Former MP Sukhdev Dhindsa’s son Parminder Dhindsa can contest from here. The BJP has offered him a seat. He can field on BJP’s election symbol lotus flower. In this regard, there has been a churning of BJP leaders in Chandigarh. Senior BJP leader Harjit Grewal said that discussions are being held in this regard.

Mann won the seat by defeating Dhindsa
The Sangrur seat has been a stronghold of the Akali Dal. The Dhindsa family has a good base here. In 2014, Bhagwant Mann won this seat for the first time by defeating Sukhdev Dhindsa. However, even for the second time, the Dhindsa family did not stand in front of Mann. In this year’s assembly elections also, Dhindsa lost from Lehragaga. Earlier, he had won five consecutive assembly elections.

Efforts to maintain local connect and vote bank
Arvind Khanna’s name was in discussion before Sangrur seat. However it has now been dropped. BJP wants to connect local through Dhindsa family. At the same time, Dhindsa also wants to retain her vote bank on the pretext of family base. More than victory or defeat, BJP is trying to know the ground of its political situation in Punjab through this by-election.
