New Delhi: The biography ‘Sam Bahadur’, directed by Meghna Gulzar and based on the life of India’s first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw, has been creating waves at the box office for some time now. There has been a global crossing of the coveted Rs 100 crore milestone. The Vicky Kaushal film surpassed this milestone in only 17 days. The actor also sent a heartfelt message to his followers on social media.

After ‘Sam Bahadur’ crossed 100 crores mark, Vicky Kaushal expressed his gratitude to his fans in an Instagram post that said, “Sam Bahadur marches on with pride & victory at the box office, and we are grateful!”

However, VIcky’s film lags far behind ‘Animal’ which debuted in theatres on December 1. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s family crime thriller features Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist.

Earlier, Vicky thanked his followers for his support on Instagram with a fresh behind-the-scenes photo from the Sam Bahadur shoot’s makeup area.

Vicky played the role of the renowned Indian military hero Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in this film. While Pakistan and India were at war in 1971 for the liberation of Bangladesh, he oversaw the Indian army as its chief. In the film, Sanya Malhotra plays Manekshaw’s wife Silloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh portrays Indira Gandhi.

In order to capture the physique and cavalry skill of Manekshaw, Vicky Kaushal reportedly undertook a hard training regimen, gaining 15 kg of muscle and learning how to ride a horse well.
