sahani: Vip Ups Ante, Says It Will Contestseven Council Seats Against Bjp | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: In yet another attempt to provoke its ally BJPBihar minister Mukesh Sahani-led Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) on Sunday announced to field its candidates against seven nominees of the saffron party in the legislative council polls.
As part of the seat-sharing among the NDA allies, the BJP is contesting 12, JD(U) 11 and the RLJP one (Vaishali) seats out of 24 vacant council seats. Other two NDA allies in Bihar – VIP and the HAMS – were not given any seat to contest the council polls.
Sahani’s party, which has already annoyed the BJP by making adverse comments against it in the just concluded Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, also announced to extend its support to all 11 candidates of JD(U) and lone candidate of the RLJP in the council election.
The VIP announced the names of its seven candidates who will take on the BJP nominees. “The VIP candidates for seven seats are Adarsh Kumar (Samastipur), Jai Jairam Mahto (Begusarai-Khagaria), Chandan Kumar (Saharsa-Madhepura-Supaul), Bal Mukund Chouhan (Saran), Gobind Bind (Rohtas-Kaimur), Shyama Nand Singh (Purnia-Araria-Kishanganj) and Baidyanath Dish (Darbhanga),” VIP spokesperson Dev Jyoti told TOI.
He added the VIP has also decided to extend its support to the BJP’s candidates in three constituencies – Aurangabad, Gopalganj and Katihar.
In the UP election too, Sahni had fielded its candidates against the BJP nominees.
Moreover, Sahani while talking to reporters in Ballia during the UP elections, had categorically said, “Ousting the BJP from power in UP is our main aim. We have asked our party workers and office-bearers to support strong contenders either from the SP, BSP or the Congress in the constituencies where there is no candidate of VIP.”
