Sadhguru Recovering After Emergency Brain Surgery

Spiritual leader Sadhguru recently underwent a “brain surgery” and is currently recovering well, Isha Foundation, said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Sadhguru had been suffering from severe headache for the last four weeks. Despite the severity of the pain, he continued with his schedule and activities, even conducting the MahaShivaratri event on 8th March 2024,” a statement from Isha Foundation said.

However, the headache got extremely severe by March 14 and on the advice of doctor, he underwent an emergency brain surgery.

“The headache got extremely severe by 14th March 2024 afternoon when he arrived in Delhi. On advice of Dr Vinit Suri, Senior Consultant Neurologist, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Sadhguru underwent an urgent MRI at 4:30 pm the same day, which revealed a massive bleed in the brain. There was evidence of a 3-4 weeks old chronic bleed along with another fresh bleed which had occurred within 24-48 hrs of the time of examination,” the statement said.

Though he was advised of immediate hospitalization, Sadhguru completed his scheduled meetings on March 14 “under the effect of high dose of pain killers.” But his condition worsened on March 11.

“Sadhguru’s neurological status rapidly worsened along with weakness of the left leg and marked worsening of headache with recurrent vomiting. He was finally admitted. A CT revealed a marked increase in brain swelling and life-threatening shift of the brain to one side,” Sadhguru said.

“Managed by a team of doctors (Dr Vinit Suri, Dr Pranav Kumar, Dr Sudheer Tyagi and Dr S Chatterjee), he underwent emergency brain surgery within a few hours of admission to relieve the bleeding in the skull,” it added.

Post surgery, Sadhguru has shown steady progress and his brain, body and vital parameters have improved to normal levels.
