There are only 1242 temples in the entire state under TDB.

The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), which oversees the management of temples in Kerala, has issued a circular to all the temples under it. In which he has asked not to give permission for Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) branch and other activities in the temple premises. The board has said that action will be taken against the officials who do not follow the order.

The new directions were issued after the board found that RSS events were being held in some temples in the state even after the circular was issued in early May.

Report those who disobey orders to TDB
Devaswom Board officials said that not just the RSS, no organization or political party would be allowed to use the temple premises for purposes other than worship. Board officials have been asked to take steps to ban such activities and report to the headquarters.

VD Satishan said – 90% Hindus in Kerala are against RSS
TDB’s latest circular is a reminder of the order dated 30 March 2021 only. In which it was said that the temple premises should not be used for any work other than the rituals and festivals of the temple. Kerala’s opposition leader VD Satheesan also came forward in support of this ban.

He said that almost 90% Hindus in Kerala are against the Sangh Parivar. That’s why the ban on any kind of activity in the temple premises is correct.

BJP had said – Chief Minister is protecting family interests
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also criticized the RSS for the physical training of shakhas in the temple premises. However, BJP Kerala Vice President KS Radhakrishnan said on this statement of Chief Minister Pinarayi that Pinarayi wants to satisfy his family members. Pinarayi is speaking in an attempt to protect the religious interests of his son-in-law, PA Muhammad Riyas.
