Rs 40,000 fine on Jet Airways: 4 Guwahati-Delhi tickets were cancelled; Narnaul Consumer Court’s decision – return the ticket amount also

District Consumer Forum in Haryana’s Narnaul has imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on Jet Airways for canceling tickets without giving any reason. Along with this, Rs 15192 charged for the ticket has also been asked to return Jet Airways to the consumers. It was alleged that Airways canceled 4 tickets without any reason. After this, the consumers had to travel by taking expensive tickets.

Sandeep Kumar, a resident of village Sareli in Mahendragarh district, told that he is employed and had gone to Guwahati-Assam for training. After training, on 23 February 2019, Nizampur resident Ankit Kumar had booked 4 tickets for Guwahati to Delhi in Jet Airways for 31 March 2019 at 6:40 am.

Sandeep told that Sukhdeep of Dadri district, Ravinder of Rohtak district and Billu Kumar of Baghpat UP had booked these four tickets with him to return after training. But Jet Airways sent a message on his mobile number on 17 March 2019 that your flight time has been changed to 1 April 2019 instead of 31 March 2019.

Tickets canceled on March 18

After this, on March 18, 2019, another notification came that all your four tickets have been cancelled. You can go to Delhi by making some other arrangements at your own level. Sandeep told that the four companions returned to Delhi after buying expensive tickets for the second flight. After this, he approached Jet Airways seeking compensation for his loss and refund of ticket money, but the company did not give any satisfactory reply.

Case filed in consumer forum

Sandeep then contacted advocate Subhash Yadav in Narnaul. Filed a petition against Jet Airways in 2019 in the District Consumer Forum Narnaul. After a long hearing, the team of District Consumer Forum Chairman RK Dogra has issued an order on Jet Airways to pay compensation of Rs 10,000 each to the four complainants and refund of ticket amount of Rs 15,192.

9% interest after 45 days

Apart from this, 7% annual interest has also been imposed on Jet Airways Company from 2019 till now. Sandeep told that if the Jet Airways Company does not pay the ticket amount and fine amount to the complainants for 45 days, then 9% interest will have to be paid.
