Rishabh Pant hopes to remember his maiden ODI hundred for rest of his life: I always enjoy playing in England

India’s explosive wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, who became only the fourth Indian wicketkeeper to score a century in ODIs, said that he wants to remember his maiden ODI hundred for the rest of his life while adding that Indian bowlers did a fantastic job to restrict the hosts to a modest 259 on a batting-friendly pitch in Manchester.

Pant’s unbeaten 125 and Hardik Pandya’s superb all-round display helped India seal a five-wicket victory over England in the third and final ODI at Old Trafford on Sunday and complete a 2-1 series victory. Pant took India home with 47 balls to spare by reverse-sweeping Joe Root for four, after he smashed David Willey for five boundaries in the previous over.

“Hopefully, I will remember my first ODI century for the rest of my life. But when I was in there, I was just focusing on one ball at a time,” Pant said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Prior to the game, Pant had played 26 matches in which he scored five half-centuries with a top score of 85 to his name. But against the Three Lions, Pant came out all guns blazing and made sure that he didn’t get out before reaching the three-figure mark.

“(Coming in at 25 for 2) When a team is under pressure and you bat like that, that’s what you aspire to do. (Quick end to the chase) I enjoy playing in England and will do whatever I can do to keep enjoying my cricket,” Pant added.

“The more cricket you play, the more experience you get. (Bowling) It was the best pitch to bat on, so credit to our bowlers for keeping them to 260. Not only this game, they have bowled well through the series. Not only this series either, they have been excellent all year,” Pant further said.
