Ram Gopal Varma defended Poonam Pandey after she confirmed she faked her death. On Friday, a post on her Instagram account claimed that she died of Cervical cancer. However, on Saturday, Poonam clarified that she faked her death news to draw attention to Cervical cancer. Following the reveal, Poonam has been receiving backlash from many on social media. Amid the criticism, Ram Gopal Varma lauded her for attempt.

Taking to X, he posted, “Hey @iPoonampandey the extreme method u employed to draw attention to this issue might attract some criticism , but no one can question ur INTENT nor what u ACHIEVED with this HOAX .. Discussion on cervical cancer is TRENDING all across now Your SOUL is as BEAUTIFUL as YOU Wish u a very very long and happy life.”

On Saturday morning, Poonam shared a video and said that she faked her death to create awareness regarding cervical cancer. “I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they couldn’t do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine,” she said.

She agreed that it rattled many but said that she is glad the message was put across.
