Rajinikanth To Appear In Sourav Ganguly Biopic? What We Know – News18

Some reports are claiming that Ayushmann Khurana is almost zeroed in for the project.

There was news that Bollywood director-producer Sajid Nadiadwala approached Rajinikanth for a project.

Superstar Rajinikanth appears to have found a penchant for cameo appearances in cricket-themed films. Most recently, he graced the screen in his daughter Aishwariya Rajinikanth’s movie, Laal Salaam, a heartwarming narrative set against the backdrop of a cricket tournament, aiming to promote communal harmony. Despite garnering positive reviews, the film fell short of meeting commercial expectations at the box office. Now, speculations are rife that Rajinikanth will be making another cameo appearance in yet another cricket-based film, this time in the much-anticipated Sourav Ganguly biopic.

Recently, reports surfaced indicating that Bollywood director-producer Sajid Nadiadwala approached Rajinikanth for an undisclosed project. While details about the project remained undisclosed initially, recent sources hint that it could be the Sourav Ganguly biopic. Although several names, including Ayushmann Khurrana, Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor, have been tossed around as potential leads for the Ganguly biopic, casting decisions are yet to be finalised. Some reports suggest that Ayushmann Khurana is the frontrunner for the role, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation yet. Interestingly, it’s speculated that Soundarya, Rajinikanth’s younger daughter, is set to helm the project, marking a significant collaboration between father and daughter once again.

If the reports of Rajinikanth’s and Soundarya’s involvement with the Sourav Ganguly biopic hold, it will mark their second collaboration. Previously, Rajinikanth had lent his voice and appeared via motion capture in Soundarya’s animated period film Kochadaiiyaan.

However, work on the sports drama is unlikely to commence soon as Rajinikanth is currently occupied with the shooting of Thalaivar 171, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanvel. Vettaiyan boasts an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati and Manju Warrier, among others.

As fans eagerly await further updates on Rajinikanth’s involvement in the Sourav Ganguly biopic and his collaboration with his daughter Soundarya, it’s clear that the legendary actor’s charm continues to captivate audiences across different genres and mediums.
