Rajathan Police Launch Hunt For Fugitive Amritpal Singh In Hanumangarh, Nearby Areas

The Rajasthan Police is looking for Amritpal, a Khalistan supporter sought by the Punjab Police, in the Hanumangarh district and surrounding regions, according to the state police head. According to Rajasthan DGP Umesh Mishra, the search was initiated Wednesday night in response to intelligence regarding Amritpal’s possible location in the district of Hanumangarh, which borders Punjab, news agency PTI reported.

He stated that personnel from Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) are aggressively searching for Amritpal.

In addition to Hanumangarh, notifications have been issued in Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer, he added.

Police are reportedly searching the Khalistani leader, who adopts the terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s persona, in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan.

Eight other close aides of Amritpal Singh, including his uncle Harjeet Singh, have been lodged at the high-security Dibrugarh Central Jail, after being slapped with the stringent National Security Act (NSA).

Pappalpreet Singh, a close associate of Amritpal Singh, was apprehended in the Amritsar district earlier this month and imprisoned in accordance with the National Security Act.

As per ABP News sources, Papalpreet told his family “he was tired of being on the run and disclosed his location to his family members who then informed the police” adding he had decided to surrender if the police would not find him.

Several CCTV footage has emerged where the fugitive leader could be seen switching vehicles and his appearance to dodge the police net.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court criticised the Punjab police last month and questioned how Amritpal Singh could regularly give them the runaround.

Amritpal Singh and his companions have been accused of a number of crimes, including inciting class strife, attempting to kill people, attacking police officers, and obstructing the proper performance of government employees’ duties.
