Rain left a trail of devastation in Junagadh: 10 inches of rain in 4 hours caused flood, many areas still submerged up to 5 feet

Gujarat’s Junagadh city was flooded after 10 inches of rain fell in four hours on Saturday. However, now the rain has stopped and signs of devastation are visible all around. Hundreds of kutcha houses have collapsed in many areas including Durvesh Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Joshipara in the city. The one-storey houses here were completely submerged, due to which the entire contents of the houses were ruined.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Bhavnagar, Navsari, Junagadh and Valsad for Sunday as well.

One person and more than 30 animals died
A 45-year-old man, Suresh Khimabhai, died after a wall collapsed near Junagadh Agricultural University following torrential rains in Junagadh city on Saturday. At the same time, more than 30 animals died due to flood water filling in the cattle shed in Bhavnath area.

Section 144 implemented in Junagadh
Section 144 has been imposed in Junagadh city and district. People have been appealed not to leave the house till the night of 24th July without any work. All tourist places in and around Junagadh city have also been banned. People have been appealed to stay away from dams and check dams.

6 inches of rain in four hours in Navsari
Here, in Navsari district near Surat, 6 inches of rain in four hours has created a flood situation. Houses in low-lying areas have been inundated with water up to 5 feet. Roads are submerged in water. The Kalwa river is in spate due to heavy rains on Girnar and Datar mountain. Shops and houses were flooded up to five feet. More than 50 cylinders kept in the godown of the gas agency were washed away.

It is raining heavily in Jamnagar since Saturday morning. Due to this, the main roads of the city have been flooded. Several low-lying areas of the city have been inundated with water up to three feet. Orange alert has been issued in the district due to the forecast of heavy rain by the Meteorological Department.
