  • DRM Dimpy Garg said: To prevent encroachment, wall will also be built at many places along the track.

new Delhi. Preparations are underway to remove encroachments from railway land in Delhi-NCR. Due to encroachment, the work of many railway projects is getting disrupted. The work of the much-awaited ring rail network has also been affected by this. Railway Ring Rail is working on a big plan to remove encroachment, increase railway stations passenger facilities, safety of passengers, operate local trains. It also includes removal of encroachments coming in the way in the development plans.

Revealed the plans in a conversation with the media from Delhi Division’s DRM Dimpy Garg. He said that encroachment remains the main obstacle in development. The Ring Rail network accounts for about 130 percent of the traffic. Most of the freight trains run on this network. Additional tracks will have to be laid to run passenger trains. For this, it is necessary to remove the illegal slums located right along the railway tracks and stations.

The DRM said that many cases are pending in the Supreme Court. Action can be started in the direction of removal of encroachment only after the decision of the Supreme Court. He said that where there is no ban on removal of encroachment from the court, it is being removed. Soon the campaign will start regarding this. Walls are also being built at many places along the tracks to prevent encroachment.

The DRM said that criminal elements take advantage under the guise of illegal slums around the railway track. Due to encroachment, the speed of trains has to be slowed down, due to which criminals commit crimes by boarding the train. In view of this, Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been deployed at sensitive places. Delhi Cantonment station will also be redeveloped so that passengers will get modern facilities.

Lack of space at Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station towards Sarai Kale Khan is becoming a hindrance in development. Land has been sought from the agency so that the main building of Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station is being expanded. The DRM said that almost all the long distance trains are back on track. 40 percent of the local trains have started running. The operation of some others will also be started.

The number of passengers coming to other stations of the capital including New Delhi and Old Delhi is very high. Despite this, every necessary step is being taken to keep the station premises clean. Machine cleaning is done at big stations. The work of waste disposal has been given to a private agency. Waste is collected and recycled from 27 stations. Manure is also prepared. Earlier, Rs 50 lakh was spent every year on waste disposal. Now the railways gets a revenue of about 10 lakh rupees.

There is a plan to replace the two FOBs connecting platform number one to 14 at Old Delhi station with new FOBs. Two new FOBs will be ready in the next two years.
