BARNALA: With an aim to quell the rebellion in the adjoining assembly segment from where he is contesting election, chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi reached out to former MLA Kewal Singh Dhillon at his residence at Barnala on Monday evening.
Channi asked Dhillon not to take any decision against the party. Channi confessed that injustice has been meted out to him and he will speak to the party high command.

The Congress ticket from Barnala has been allotted to former Union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal’ son Manish Bansal. Dhillon had contested last three assembly elections from Barnala, winning twice in 2007 and 2012 and losing in 2017.
Channi is contesting from Bhadaur assembly segment, which is adjoining Barnala and the echo of any rebellion at Barnala could have been felt at Bhadaur as well.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of supporters of Dhillon had assembled at his residence and raised voice against the party. They urged Dhillon to contest as an independent. Many of the office bearers of the Congress had assured to resign from their respective posts.
Dhillon told TOI that CM Channi confessed that injustice has been meted out to him and he will speak to party high command.
