Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings showcased Rahul Chahar’s explosive innings against Jaipur Indians in a video on Instagram. Chahar might not be a household name in franchise cricket but he had proven to be a revelation in the 2019 IPL season that saw him pick 13 scalps. While known more for his prowess on the bowling front Chahar can also be a menace with a bat in his hand. In the uploaded highlight reel, he is seen sending some maximums into the crowd before plucking three wickets. The video was captioned with, “Full mood vich si sadda Rahul” which translates to “Our Rahul is in full mood”. Several fans appreciated the cricketer’s talent causing hundreds of reactions to pour in the comments section.

One of the fans made a bold comparison between him and India’s spinning veteran Ravichandran Ashwin. He said, “Rahul Chahar is another R Ashwin in international cricket. Give him a chance in PBKS at no 6.”

Another comparison of him was drawn to England’s ace batter Josh Buttler. The comment read, “Rahul Buttler”.

“Wow amazing”, wrote another fan.

While, one fan seemed to take a trip down memory lane, imagining the explosive player at Mumbai Indians during his early years. “I remember the days when he was in Mumbai Indians,” he said.

Jaipur Indians and Jodhpur Sunrisers collided in the qualifier 1 of the Rajasthan Premier League 2023 on September 7. In the first innings, an impeccable Rahul Chahar led from the front scalping three wickets for Jodhpur. His haul proved to be crucial as Jaipur was curbed to a 147-run total. Chahar replicated his amazing performance in the second innings, but this time on the batting front. He scored 34 runs in 11 balls before being caught in a runout. Chahar’s heroics ultimately proved to be futile as Jodhpur missed out on the victory narrowly. Jaipur were able to beat them by a single run in the game.

Rahul Chahar made his IPL debut in 2017 for Rising Pune Supergiants. He didn’t exactly make any headlines but still managed to scalp two wickets in the three matches that he played. His first explosive season came in 2019 when he took 13 wickets for Mumbai Indians in 13 matches. He enjoyed four seasons with 10+ wickets from 2019 to 2022 in the IPL. Chahar was not that impressive in his last IPL season earlier this year in 2023. He still picked up eight wickets for his current IPL franchise Punjab Kings taking his all-time IPL tally to 65 wickets in 69 matches.
