New Delhi: A labourer from Punjab was shot at and injured by suspected militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, police said.
According to police, the labourer, identified as Sonu Sharma, was a helper of a poultry-carrying vehicle. He was shot at in his right leg, the officials said.
They further said that Sharma was rushed to a nearby hospital in Srinagar where his condition was stated to be stable.
According to report by news agency ANI, around 6pm, Pulwama police received information about the terrorists firing upon Sharma. He was evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment. A case against the militants has been registered, police said.

It is to be noted that this is the third attack on people from outside Jammu and Kashmir in Pulwama district since Sunday.
A total of five persons have been injured in these attacks.
Earlier on April 4, two migrant labourers from Bihar were shot at by militants in the south Kashmir district.
A day prior to that, two non-locals were shot at and injured by suspected militants in Litter area in Pulwama district.
As per report, at about 7.15pm, terrorists fired upon two non-locals, both residents of Pathankot, Punjab at Nowpora in Litter area of Pulwama. The duo, one of them a driver and another the conductor of a poultry vehicle, was shifted to the sub-district hospital.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, two terrorists belonging to different organisations were killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Pulwama district.
As per an ANI report, in a joint operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, multiple mobile vehicle check posts were established in the general area of Awantipura in Pulwama, based on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
The neutralised terrorist was identified as Shafat Muzafar Sofi, a resident of Batagund, who had joined terror tanzeem AGuH on October 8 last year.
The second terrorist was a member of the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) since August 21, 2021. He was identified as Umar Nabi Teli, resident of Lodu, Awantipura.
