Just a year before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a major change has been made in the Punjab BJP. Veteran leader Sunil Jakhar, who left Congress and joined BJP, has been given the command of Punjab. The discussion about the name of Sunil Jakhar had started only after the rally of Home Minister Amit Shah in Gurdaspur. He had collected his belongings from the office without commenting on the reshuffle. Now Sunil Jakhar will reach this office.
Had joined BJP last year
Sunil Jakhar served as a senior leader in the Congress, but after the defeat of the Congress last year, he joined the BJP in May 2022. He joined the party in the presence of BJP national president JP Nadda. Jakhar has been MLA from Abohar twice and MP from Gurdaspur once. Jakhar also served as the state Congress president from 2012 to 2017.

2020 Ashwini became Punjab chief in
On 18 January 2020, Ashwani Sharma became the President of Punjab BJP for the second time. After this, the party contested the assembly elections and the Sangrur and Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-elections under his chairmanship, but the party had to face a crushing defeat. He was made the state president for the first time in 2010.
