Chadhuni has formed his own political party. Some organizations involved in the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) have formed a Samyukta Samaj Morcha to contest the Punjab Assembly elections, which has announced to contest the elections under the leadership of Balbir Singh Rajewal.

Had denied alliance with Aam Aadmi Party

Recently, Samyukta Samaj Morcha leader Balbir Singh Rajewal ruled out an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party for next month’s Punjab Assembly elections and said that they would announce their candidates within a week.

Various farmers’ organizations in Punjab, which took part in the movement against the Centre’s now withdrawn agriculture law, launched their political front last month and announced they would contest the assembly elections.

The leaders of the Samyukta Samaj Morcha (SSM) also held talks with farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni, who has started the Samyukta Sangharsh Party to contest the elections.

At the same time, the SKM, which is leading the movement against the three agricultural laws of the Center, said on Saturday that
Farmers’ organizations contesting the Punjab Assembly elections will no longer be a part of the United Kisan Morcha (SKM).
The SKM has called for a nationwide “betrayal day” on January 31 to protest against no assurance from the government on the demands of farmers, including a legal guarantee of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.
