Protesters take over Presidential palace in Sri Lanka

A day after Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled his official residence in Colombo on Saturday, a ground report from the Presidential Palace shows that it has become a “tourist spot”. People can be seen milling around the compound as they wait for the official news of the president’s resignation.

Protesters have also occupied ‘Temple Tree’, the official residence of Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Videos emerged of protesters camping there and cooking food inside the premises in Colombo.
