Prayagraj Violence: Stones were thrown from the roofs, the police had to save their lives, the RAF took over the front and the attackers retreated

There was a fierce ruckus in Prayagraj on Friday over the statement of BJP’s national spokesperson Nupur Sharma. After the Friday prayers, a crowd of thousands gathered in Atala created a ruckus. Along with pelting stones at the police, there was bombing and arson. Dozens of vehicles of police administration were vandalized, eight vehicles including PAC’s car were burnt. 18 policemen including IG were injured in the attack. Police and RAF started chasing the miscreants by lathi-charge, then after three hours the ruckus calmed down. In the Atala uproar case, a total of three cases were registered by the police till late night. Two of these were written in Khuldabad and one in Kareli police station. In all, 36 people have been named in the three cases. All these 36 people were arrested till late night from different areas of Kareli, Khuldabad. One thousand unknown attackers have also been made accused. Unknown accused are being identified from the video and CCTV footage.

During the ruckus, stones were pelted from the streets as well as some houses located nearby. In fact, many youths, who were pelting stones on the force, went and hid in some houses located in the streets. After this, stones were also thrown from the roofs.

The policemen also had to come on the back foot due to the rain of stones from the height. During this, some policemen were also injured due to stone pelting. After which an ambulance was called and he was sent to the hospital.

The special thing was that due to the proximity of the houses, the attackers kept attacking even from one roof to another. However, when the police questioned the occupants of these houses, they denied knowing about the attackers. It also said that they do not know how the attackers got to their roofs.

The police had to come on the back foot many times due to stone pelting in the streets. When the miscreants were secretly pelting stones at the police, then the policemen also kept responding to their attack by throwing stones towards them. When the police could not succeed in handling the situation, on the instructions of the officers, the RAF personnel took the front.
