Prayagraj firing: One of four injured dies, errant cop still at large | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: Rajan Gupta alias Vishal (35), who had received bullet injuries in indiscriminate firing at Kydganj of Prayagraj district, died at a hospital late on Thursday night.
Four persons were injured after a suspended constable, posted with the excise department in Varanasi district, allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on two brothers at Kydganj market.
While Rajan Gupta alias Vishal died during the treatment, three others, including Sandeep alias Bhole Gupta (brother of Raja), Ramji, a trader and Narayan Tiwari, a student, were undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
Meanwhile, heavy police arrangements were made at Kydganj and adjoining areas to defuse tension.
Agitated over the incident, locals blocked vehicular traffic for an hour.
The road was cleared following assurance given by senior police and district authorities that stern action would be initiated against the culprit.
Inspector general of police ( Prayagraj range) Rakesh Singh has also suspended three policemen, including a sub-inspector, on the charges of the dereliction of duty.
SP (city) Dinesh Kumar Singh that the accused cop Vimlesh Pandey was posted with excise department in Varanasi.
A resident of Karchana, Pandey never missed any opportunity to prove his supremacy in the area.
The errant constable was placed under suspension about three months back when his audio with a woman had gone viral on social media.
On late Thursday evening, the constable had heated arguments with Sandeep and Rajan.
In a fit of rage, he opened fire on them, injuring them as well as two others in the process.
Following the incident the irate mob had set the room of the constable afire.
