Poonam Pandey said that if her lie is beneficial for someone then she would say it again.
Days after Poonam Pandey faked her death for a campaign, the actress made her first public appearance. On February 22, Thursday, Poonam was snapped by the paparazzi as she stepped out in Mumbai. In a video that surfaced on social media, she was seen interacting with the media and justifying her actions.
Speaking to the media, Poonam said, “Aap logo ne duniya main kisi ne jhooth nahi bola kya? Aur mere jhooth se kisi ka faida hota hai toh aisa jhooth main hazaar baar boloongi (Has no one in the world lied before? If my lie can benefit someone then I will lie a thousand times).”
Poonam added, “Jitne bhi logo ne jo bhi mere baare main bola hai, usme se ek bhi insaan se cervical cancer ke baare main kabhi nahi baat ki. Aaj jab main kuch kar rahi hoon cervical cancer ke liye toh sabko problem hai. Mere fans ke liye shama chahoongi, unke liye dil se I would say sorry (Everyone who is saying something about me, they have never spoken about cervical cancer. Today I’m doing something about it and they have an issue with it. I would like to apologise to my fans).”
This marked Poonam Pandey’s first appearance ever since she faked her death. On February 2 this year, her ‘death’ news was announced in a post shared on her official Instagram handle. However, a day later, the actress came out in a video statement and revealed that she was alive. She argued that the motive of her death news was to create awareness regarding cervical cancer. However, it did not go down well with everyone and several celebrities including Kangana Ranaut and Karan Kundrra lashed out at the actress.
Later, a Rs 100 crore defamation case was also filed against the actress and her former husband Sam Bombay by Faizan Ansari. He accused Pandey of “trivializing the seriousness of cancer and manipulating the emotions and trust of millions” by faking her death and reportedly urged the authorities to arrest her. Recently, Poonam talked about faking her death when she alleged that many stakeholders took monetary benefit from her stunt.
