COIMBATORE: A temporary bus terminal will function at Codissia ground in Coimbatore in view of the rush of passengers during Pongal festival.
The temporary terminal will function on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning to provide bus services to long distances through Salem and Trichy routes.
Buses to Chennai, Sathyamangalam, Erode, Tirupur (via Avinashi), Tirupur (via Palladam) and Karur will be operated from Coimbatore Mofussil Bus Terminal.
Buses for Madurai, Theni, Dindigul and long distance buses through these areas will be operated from Singanallur Bus Terminal.
Buses going via Pollachi, Palani, Valparai, Madurai, Madurai and Theni will be operated from Ukkadam Bus Terminal.
There will be bus services connecting the four bus terminals.
An official said that 250-300 special buses will be operated to clear the Pongal rush. If required, the number of buses would be increased to meet the demand, he said.
