Political discord in Punjab has reached the religion of officers instead of competence. The Congress has raised questions about the absence of any Sikh in the top three officers of Punjab, Chief Secretary (CS), Director General of Police (DGP) and Advocate General (AG). MLA Sukhpal Khaira, chairman of All India Kisan Congress, surrounded the government on this. On the other hand, the BJP surrounded the Congress on the pretext of Khaira.

BJP spokesperson Subhash Sharma asked why no Hindu became CM in Punjab from 1966 till today. He sought an answer from Sukhpal Khaira on this. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party or CM Bhagwant Mann has not given any reaction on this.

Kejriwal and Mann were targeted on the pretext of officers
Sukhpal Khaira said that India is a secular country. Every section of the society should be given proper representation. Unfortunately, the Bhagwant Mann government run by Arvind Kejriwal did not appoint a single Sikh officer in the top three positions. Aren’t Sikh officers competitive?

BJP’s answer: Congress always divides Hindu-Sikh
Responding to this, the BJP general secretary said that the Congress always tried to divide the Hindu-Sikh. Sukhpal Khaira objected that the Chief Secretary, DGP and Advocate General are Hindus. His question is whether any Sikh officer is not capable? I want to ask him that since 1966 till now Hindu CM has not been made, was any Hindu leader not capable or not?.

Tradition of a Hindu and a Sikh officer in Punjab
In Punjab, it has often been a tradition with regard to the DGP and Chief Secretary that a Sikh officer was posted on one post and a Hindu officer on the other. However, in the second Chief Minister term of Captain Amarinder Singh, Dinkar Gupta and Vini Mahajan i.e. both Hindu officers were appointed. Now Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua, DGP Gaurav Yadav have been appointed in the AAP government. Advocate Vinod Ghai is being appointed as the new AG.

Veteran Congressman Sunil Jakhar had said that after the removal of Captain, most of the MLAs were in favor of making him the CM in the voting conducted. He was not made the CM just because he was a Hindu.

Hindu CM Congress’s ache
The talk of Hindu CM is the pain of Congress. During the assembly elections, there was a lot of ruckus in the Congress regarding this. Rahul Gandhi wanted Sunil Jakhar to be the Chief Minister. However, Ambika Soni reportedly opposed it. He got the decision changed by talking about the Sikh state-Sikh CM. After this Jakhar raised this issue a lot. The loss of which the Congress had to bear in the Vis election. Now Jakhar has left Congress and joined BJP.
