Why is a foot march being taken out?
Vishal, who led the march, had told that in the year 2018, recruitment was done for 60,210 posts in Para Military Force under SSC GD. We passed the written, physical and medical test, but we did not get the appointment letter. The government filled only 55 thousand posts. We started a demonstration in Delhi regarding this from February 2021. We wanted to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, but did not get time to meet them. Our colleagues went to the offices of all the MPs in Delhi and went there and pleaded for help. Meanwhile, someone suggested that you meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, he can get you to meet PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Only assurance but no employment
We met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, gave him a memorandum. He assured us to get the appointment letter within 15 days. Even after 20 days, when appointment letters were not received and Gadkari could not be met. Then we fasted for 72 days at the Constitution Chowk in Nagpur. After this, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale spoke to us on video conference and assured that the appointment would be given soon. When about one and a half months passed, some of our colleagues including our girls reached Delhi Union Minister Athawale’s office to meet him and there he was misbehaved with them. Was kicked out. Then we decided to take out a foot march from Nagpur to Delhi.

Rupali Himran, a resident of Midnapore, West Bengal, said, “We are going hungry and thirsty for the last two months. There is neither grain to eat nor a place to sleep. Sometimes there is no water even to drink. The District Magistrate of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh did not allow us to stay there for food and drink. In 49 degree mercury, a decree was issued to the people to keep walking without stopping. The Agra Police first made us stop at the gurudwara and then dropped us by taking us to Dholpur, Morena, Shikohabad and Etawah. The mobile phones of our comrades were also snatched and released with a warning of never coming to UP again. When we reached Mathura, the police there also misbehaved with us. Kept sitting in the sun all day. Due to this the health of two girls deteriorated.

Rupali said, while fighting for our rights, we have become disturbed both mentally and physically. There are blisters on the feet. Every part of the body is moaning with pain. Since childhood, we had only one dream that we would do something for the country, but did it in our own country. Now I am feeling that why did I have this dream at all?
