PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone Of 3 Delhi University Buildings On June 30

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone for three buildings at Delhi University on June 30 and release a series of coffee table books, according to university authorities, news agency PTI reported. These structures will be 7+1 storeyed with cutting-edge infrastructure for the faculty of technology, a computer centre, and an academic block, they claimed.

“The prime minister will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of centenary celebrations of the Delhi University (DU) on June 30. Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone of three new buildings virtually,” Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh was quoted by PTI in its report.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education, will be the ceremony’s guest of honour.

Prakash Singh, Director of DU South Campus, told PTI that the prime minister will also present three coffee table books, including a logo book.

“The three buildings for which the prime minister will lay foundation stone are the computer centre and the faculty of technology (North Campus) and academic block at Maurice Nagar. These buildings would be completed in the next two years,” he said.

Prakash Singh said the varsity has a computer centre but it is only two-storeyed. “We have plans to build a new computer centre. The building will be built with funds given by the Centre as part of the Institutions of Eminence (IoE) scheme. The second building would be the faculty of technology,” he said.

“The prime minister will also launch three coffee table books, including a logo book which will have logos of various colleges and their motto. One will have the activities planned for the entire year and the other will have our historical achievements,” Prakash Singh said.

The DU has offered B.Tech programmes with a capacity of 360 students beginning with the forthcoming academic session. They will be served by the technology faculty building. For the closing ceremony, an exhibition commemorating the university’s 100th anniversary will be held in the basement of the Multipurpose Hall.

An official claimed that preparations for the event are well underway, and Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh is keeping a close eye on everything.

On Tuesday, a meeting on advance security liaison was held under the auspices of the vice chancellor.

The vice chancellor also met separately with members of the university’s academic and executive councils.

“The university administration is fully active regarding the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Delhi University on June 30,” the official said.
