The clash saw Australia emerge triumphant, defeating hosts India by six wickets and securing their sixth ODI World Cup title in Ahmedabad. Travis Head’s spectacular inning of 137 runs off 120 balls was studded with 15 fours and four sixes. While Marnus Labuschagne’s unbeaten 58 was equally crucial.

India had won ten matches in a row and were the favourites leading upto this match but were outplayed by Australia on the day who had started their tournament by losing two matches in a row but then went on to win nine in a row including the final to further extend their dominance in World Cricket.
