New Delhi: Tesla chief Elon Musk, who claimed to have sold 20,000 bottles of a new fragrance called “Burnt Hair” after its launch, on Wednesday joked about selling perfumes to fund his Twitter purchase. “Please buy my perfume, so I can buy Twitter,” wrote Musk on the micro-blogging site on Wednesday.

Musk, who stepped back from the $44-billion takeover in April, has once again considered buying the social media platform by the end of the month. If he fails to do so, a trial for a breach-of-contract suit in the on-again-off-again deal will take place in November.

The billionaire entrepreneur on Tuesday changed his bio to ‘Perfume salesman’ as he launched his own perfume line. Ahead of the official launch, Musk had teased netizens with the idea in September.
The bottle of perfume costing Rs 8,400 is sold through the website of his startup The Boring Company. At the beginning of 2018, his startup last valued at $5.7 billion sold flamethrowers for $500 each, raising $10 million, reported news agency Reuters.
“With a name like mine, getting into the fragrance business was inevitable — why did I even fight it for so long!?” he tweeted. Usually, a perfume website would describe the notes of perfume or cologne, however, The Boring Company site just reads “The Essence of Repugnant Desire”. “Stand out in a crowd! Get noticed as you walk through the airport,” the website says.
With his quirky sense of humour, the billionaire had promoted several unusual products in the past as well.
Musk had offered to buy Twitter in April for $54.20 per share, or $44 billion, but then announced pulling out of the deal three weeks later.
Musk has been given more time by the judge against his lawsuits over closing his $44 billion deal with Twitter Inc. Both parties have been given time until October 28 to complete the deal. If the transaction isn’t done by that time, the judge will set trial dates in November.
