A controversy has started over the printing of photos of Jesus Christ and Goddess Lakshmi on the ration card in Ramanagara, Karnataka. The incident is from Dodda Alanahalli village. State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar’s birthplace. These photos are printed on the back page of the ration card. Hindu organizations have condemned the incident and demanded an inquiry.

In the village of Kanakapura taluka of Ramnagar district, the ration card has a picture of Jesus Christ on the reverse side and New Pushpa Studio Dodda Alhalli is printed below it. However, the Kanakpur Tehsildar has decided to investigate the photo going viral. Along with the police, Tehsildar Vishwanath has started investigation.

BJP’s allegation – Trying to impose Christianity
A debate has begun over attempts to promote communalism in the region. On the other hand, Hindu activists and BJP leaders have alleged that efforts are being made to impose Christianity. The police is yet to register a complaint in this regard, while the authorities have started investigation.

Similar incident happened in Andhra Pradesh too

A similar incident had come to the fore in the Andhra Pradesh government as well. However, the Andhra Pradesh government had said that a ration card dealer who was also a member of the TDP from Valdamuru village had conspired to have the photo of Jesus Christ printed on the ration card and made it viral on the internet.

The government had also claimed that even before this the same person had printed the picture of Saibaba on the ration card and in 2017 had printed the photo of Lord Balaji.
