Pakistan: Imran Khan’s Instagram Account Briefly Hacked, Phishers Posts Cryptocurrency Link

The Instagram account of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was temporarily hacked on Monday by crypto fraudsters who uploaded a message praising Tesla Motors Founder Elon Musk for “donating” three bitcoins, as per media reports, news agency PTI reported.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief’s Instagram account was quickly restored with the assistance of Meta – Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, PTI social media head Arslan Khalid informed the Dawn newspaper.

According to Arslan Khalid, he personally watched Imran Khan’s account, where hackers provided a bitcoin link with his 7.4 million followers.

According to Arslan Khalid, the hackers also released a screenshot of a tweet from Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Scammers frequently pose as the millionaire to take advantage of his interest in cryptocurrency.

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Motors, was praised for “donating” three bitcoins in a post on the former premier’s Instagram account.

Additionally, a narrative featuring a screenshot of Musk’s tweet about winning $100,000 was posted on Imran Khan‘s Instagram account.

In the hacker-posted story, the PTI chairman’s verified account praised the Space X CEO.

The similar tale was also shared on Instagram, however that post has already been taken down.

On his official handle, Elon Musk’s supposed message was nowhere to be discovered.

According to the Pakistan Observer daily, Khan is not the only PTI member whose account has been compromised this year.

Asad Umar, the former Federal Planning Minister and secretary general of the PTI, had his Twitter account hacked last week. After a while, the account was restored.
