Arvindraj, a 25-year-old bull tamer, died on the second day of Mattu Pongal in Tamil Nadu. Aravind was seriously injured during Jallikattu in Palamedu. He was admitted to Rajaji Government Hospital in Madurai, but succumbed to his critical injuries.

60 people were injured on the first day
According to the Madurai collector, 60 people were injured during the first day’s play at Avaniyapuram. The condition of 20 of them is serious. The injured have been referred to Rajaji Hospital. Another 40 people with minor injuries were sent back home after first aid.

Health officer S Vinoth Kumar said it was for the first time that an advanced trauma life support ambulance and X-ray unit were deployed at the Avaniyapuram Jallikattu grounds.

Collector Anish Shekhar told that all security arrangements have been made during the game. The akhada has been barricaded to ensure safe participation of bulls, bull owners, players as well as spectators. More than 2000 of our policemen are deployed at many places.
