One Dead, 18 Labourers Missing Near Indo-China Border In Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey Dist.

Near the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey area, one labourer perished and 18 others remain missing. The labourers were working on a road near Damin when they went missing a week ago, news agency ANI reported.

Last week, all 19 workers went missing from the construction site, and the Deputy Commissioner stated that the body of one of them was discovered in a nearby river.

Speaking with ANI, District Deputy Commissioner Bengia Nighee said, “1 dead, 18 other labourers missing in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district along the Indo-China border. Most of the 19 labourers who went missing since July 5 from a road project, were from Assam.”

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been building a massive network of infrastructure projects in northeastern states, and these workers were sent in to finish road construction in Damin circle, a rural location near the Indo-China border.

One dead corpse was discovered, according to Deputy Commissioner Bengia Nighee. However, according to local stories, all of the labourers drowned in Damin’s Kumey River.

The project site is located within Damin, close the Indo-China border. The workers allegedly urged the contractor, Bengia Bado, to give them permission to celebrate Eid, but when the contractor refused, they left on foot and went missing in the dense woods of Kurung Kumey area, according to a police officer, India Today reported.

He claims that 18 workers are still missing. A rescue team will be dispatched to the project site to locate the missing labourers and confirm rumours that all of the workers drowned in the Kumey River.
