Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday warned the opposition members who were creating ruckus in the House not to show the posters in the House. He said that ‘don’t take my generosity as my weakness. Actually, members of some opposition parties including Congress were creating ruckus on issues like inflation and GST. He also waved posters.

The proceedings of the House began at 2 pm on Monday due to the swearing-in ceremony of Draupadi Murmu as the 15th President of the country. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla asked to start Question Hour. But some opposition members, including the Congress, started raising slogans. Birla started the Question Hour in the midst of the uproar. During this, some members asked supplementary questions and Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal answered them.

Meanwhile, the opposition members came near the Speaker’s podium raising slogans. He had posters in his hands. Issues like increase in prices of essential commodities including LPG cylinders, increase in GST rates on many items, inflation were mentioned on these.

Despite the uproar in the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla continued the proceedings of the House.

Lok Sabha Speaker said – Government is ready for discussion
Appealing to the noisy members to return to their places, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla said, “I am ready to hold discussion in the House after 3 o’clock. The government is ready to hold discussions. He said that but if only the poster is to be shown, it will be shown outside the house after three o’clock. Due to the uproar, the House was adjourned till 3 pm, about 20 minutes after the commencement of the proceedings.

After three o’clock, when the proceedings of the House started, some members again brought placards. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi asked the speaker to disqualify the members showing placards. After continuous uproar, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Tuesday.

4 Congress MPs suspended for the entire session
During the action, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha suspended 4 Congress MPs from the House for the entire session, who were waving posters in the House. These members are – Manickam Tagore, Ramya Haridas, Jyotimani and TN Pratap. Congress said on the speaker’s action that the government is trying to intimidate our MPs while they were trying to raise issues of interest to the people.
