Claims are circulating online suggesting that NTA took the exam of 24 per cent of 12 lakh candidates in a single shift.

The JEE Main Session 1 results, announced on February 12, have impacted over 12 lakh candidates who registered for the exam. Still, concerns about potential irregularities in the JEE Main 2024 results are surfacing on social media. The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for administering the exam, is facing challenges in identifying potential discrepancies in JEE Main 2024 results and providing necessary clarification. Currently, claims are circulating online suggesting that NTA took the exam of 24 per cent of 12 lakh candidates who applied in a single shift.

But NTA has dismissed these allegations as false. According to NTA officials, statements suggesting that the examination was conducted for 65 per cent of candidates across four shifts in the first two days of the JEE exam are incorrect.

The JEE Main Session 1 exam was conducted in a total of 10 shifts. Approximately 9.9% to 10% of candidates participated in each shift, except for the 10 shift where the percentage was slightly lower at 9.6%. A senior NTA official shared insights regarding the allegations in a report published by NBT. As per the official statement, out of the 23 students who obtained a 100 per cent score, 14 students appeared for the exam on January 27 and 29. The remaining 9 candidates who secured 100 per cent appeared in the other 6 shifts.

A viral video by a YouTuber claimed that NTA examined approximately 24 per cent of students in the first shift on January 27, totalling around 2.9 lakh students. But NTA refuted this, stating that the examination was conducted for 1.22 lakh and 1.25 lakh students in two shifts on the first day.

According to NTA sources, approximately 10-10 per cent of students were examined in each shift. NTA also stated that the calculation of the JEE Main result percentage follows a global practice adopted by the GRE and GMAT. Presently, CSIR and the Railway Recruitment Board have implemented this system in their examinations.
