The illegal twin towers of Supertech built in Sector 93 of Noida were demolished at 2.30 pm on Sunday. It took only 12 seconds for both the towers to fall with a height of more than 100 meters. 3700 kg of gunpowder was used to bring them down. After this, both the towers turned into about 80 thousand tons of debris. The rubble includes concrete and steel, which are estimated to be worth around Rs 15 crore.

Before the blast, about 7,000 people living in nearby buildings of the Twin Towers were sent to a safer place. An area up to one and a half kilometers from the Explosion Zone was evacuated. The explosion has also been reported to have damaged the boundary wall of a society near the tower and shattered glass. However, as per the planning, the tower did not fall towards Emerald Court, but towards ATS, which is a safe fall. First of all, see how the view was when the Twin Towers fell…

It took the same amount of time for the Twin Towers to fall, as told by the experts. That is, in about 12 seconds, both the buildings collapsed.

Debris equal to 5 floors after twin tower collapse
After the blast, the debris of both the towers has accumulated at the site. When the Bhaskar reporter took stock of the spot, the pile of debris of the fallen building was seen spreading to a height of about 50 to 60 feet. This height is equal to that of a 5-storey building. More than 50 fire tenders have been deployed to clear the dust from trees and buildings. Special dust machines have been installed to monitor the pollution level in the area.

Soon after the collapse of the Twin Towers, a huge plume of dust arose, after which the surrounding buildings were not visible.

No major damage reported to nearby buildings
Due to the explosion technique used to bring down the twin towers, both the towers built in the midst of a dense population were grounded in their place. There was no major damage to any nearby buildings. There have been reports of broken glass of some buildings and cracks in the boundary wall of a society. However, the exact assessment of the damage will be done only after the return of the families living in the society.

In the video taken during the blast, both towers are seen falling from the blast, but the surrounding buildings are safe.

30 minutes after the blast, the place where the illegal supertech towers were standing in Sector 93 of Noida, saw an empty space after the dust plume was removed. Along with this, the buildings built behind the tower were also visible. When the tower turned into rubble, dust spread over an area of about half a kilometer. After half an hour, the staff of Noida Authority took the lead at the Explosion Site. It will take about three months to completely remove the debris.

Now know in five points how the twin towers were built, why and how they broke

Permission of 1.10 floors, two new towers of 40 floors were built
In 2004, Noida Authority allotted a plot to Supertech to make it a housing society. The building plan was approved in 2005. In this permission was given to build 14 towers of 10 floors. In 2006, Supertech changed the plan to make 15 towers of 11 floors. In November 2009, the plan was again changed to include two 24-storey towers. In March 2012, 24 floors were increased to 40. By the time the ban came, 633 flats had been booked in them.

2. The High Court had ordered the demolition of the Twin Towers 8 years ago
Udaybhan Singh Teotia, the Resident Welfare Association President of the Emerald Court Society adjacent to the tower, took the matter of Twin Towers to the court. In 2012, he had filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court against the illegal construction. In 2014, the High Court declared the Twin Towers illegal and ordered the demolition. The court said that those who have booked flats here should be returned their money with 14% interest.

3. Supreme Court ordered to demolish the tower in August 2021, now it has fallen
Supertech Builder challenged this in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Allahabad High Court and ordered on 31 August 2021 that the towers should be demolished within three months i.e. on November 2021. Noida Authority said in the court that this work will be done by 22 May 2022. Finally, its date was fixed as 28 August 2022. According to the petitioner Tewatia, the benefits of demolishing the tower will be visible after three months.

4. Agreement with two companies to demolish, one of them South Africa
India’s Edifice and South African company Jet Demolition got the task of demolishing the tower. Jet company has received 5 awards of difficult demolition. It has demolished the 108-metre-high Bank of Lisbon building in Johannesburg, a power station in South Africa itself, and a densely populated 14-storey twin tower in the capital, Pretoria. Edifice has also demolished the Old Motera Stadium in Gujarat.

5. Drilled 9800 holes in the tower, each hole was filled with about 1400 grams of gunpowder
According to Edifice Director Utkarsh Maheshwari, one tower of Supertech is 29 and the other is 32 storey. 9800 holes were drilled in both the towers. About 1400 grams of gunpowder was poured into each hole. A total of 3700 kg of gunpowder was used. This includes 325 kg super power gel, 63,300 m solar card, soft tube, gelatin rod, 10,900 detonators and 6 IEDs. About Rs 17.55 crore was spent on this. This cost will also be taken from Supertech itself.
