Noida: Residents come together to celebrate apartment complex’s birthday | Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: At a time when Covid-related restrictions have played havoc with one’s physical and mental health, the Century Apartment residents’ welfare association (RWA) in Sector 100 came up with an innovative idea to enhance bonding and spread cheer among neighbours and residents.
The housing society that completed 11 years on Monday, celebrated the occasion with two-day-long events, where they distributed blankets among the support staff, planted saplings and made goods from recycled waste.

“It was on January 17, 2011, that the flats of this housing complex were allotted. On the 11th year’s anniversary, we decided to celebrate the occasion to build cohesion among residents,” Pawan Yadav, the RWA president said, adding that Covid-appropriate measures were taken during the event.

“We organised a cleanliness drive in the society and went on to plant 10 gooseberry saplings. In the evening, we cut a cake and distributed blankets among our support staff, including guards, sweepers, gardeners and washermen, etc. Children also took part in a painting competition,” Yadav said. Each year, he said, more competitions and cultural programmes will be added to celebrate the occasion.

“I came to live in the society about two years back and it’s for the first time that I saw the birthday of a housing society is being celebrated. It’s a very nice gesture,” PK Verma, 65, a retired bank officer and resident, said.
The gated society has 400 flats with about 1,500-1,600 residents living across its 50 towers.
