No Proposal To Conduct NEET UG Exam Twice A Year: Health Ministry Tells Lok Sabha

The Union Health Ministry has informed Lok Sabha that there are no plans to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate courses twice a year.

“National Medical Commission (NMC) & National Testing Agency (NTA) have informed that there is no proposal to conduct NEET UG exams for providing two chances in a year,” Minister of State for Health and Family Wafare Bharati Pravan Pawar said.

“NEET is a historic reform promoting meritocracy and providing opportunity to meritorious students to get admission in the best medical institutions in the country. It has resulted in curbing malpractices in medical admission, greater transparency and reducing the burden on prospective students of appearing in multiple entrance exams,” she said.

“NEET (UG) is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) & the syllabus is based on the syllabi of all the State Boards and National Boards,” Pawar added.

NEET 2023 Registration Underway

NEET UG 2023 application process is underway and interested candidates can apply online on the official website of NEET at neet.nta.nic.in. The last date to fill the application form is April 6, 2023.

Candidates must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects to be eligible for NEET. Aspirants currently appearing for their Class 12 or equivalent examination are also eligible to apply for NEET.

NEET (UG) – 2023 will be conducted in 13 languages ​​ie English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

The application fee for NEET has been raised for all candidates. General category candidates are now required to pay ₹1,700 to take the exam. For General-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates, the fee is ₹1,600, while for SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender candidates, the fee is ₹900. Candidates from outside India are required to pay an exam fee of ₹9,500. It is to be noted that all applicants must pay GST and processing charges, which will be added to the exam fees.
