In the last 5 days, we saw wartime leadership from you Satya that no management class can teach and every CEO can learn from. Thank you, says Edelweiss MF CEO Radhika Gupta

Even as the boardroom chaos at OpenAI following Sam Altman’s ouster has now settled with Altman’s return at the company, Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD and CEO Radhika Gupta said “we saw wartime leadership” from Microsoft Satya Nadella that no management class can teach.

“In the last 5 days, we saw wartime leadership from you Satya that no management class can teach and every CEO can learn from. Thank you,” Radhika Gupta, a former Microsoft intern, said.

For context, after Sam Altman was sacked from OpenAI’s board of directors last week, Nadella offered him to head the tech giant’s new advanced AI team, which was being touted as a master move by Nadella. Subsequently, after the OpenAI board regretted its decision and when Altman decided to join back, Nadella said “Sam, Greg (Brockman), and I have talked and agreed they have a key role to play along with the OAI leadership team in ensuring OAI continues to thrive and build on its mission”.

Microsoft is a significant stakeholder in OpenAI.

On November 17, Sam Altman was sacked by ChatGPT maker OpenAI as its CEO and director after its board said it “no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI”.

After a 5-day tussle, Sam Altman is now back as CEO Of OpenAI. His colleague Greg Brockman has also joined back. OpenAI in a statement said, “We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board.”

The company’s board has also been reshuffled.
