New ruckus on Punjab’s AG: Congress made Bhai the legal cell chairman; Behbal Kalan Insaaf Morcha demanded removal

There has been a new furore in Punjab regarding the Advocate General. The new Advocate General (AG) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has appointed Advocate Bipin Ghai, brother of Vinod Ghai, as the Legal Cell Chairman. Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading released the list yesterday. Advocate Bipin Ghai will look after the Legal, Human Rights and RTI departments of Congress. At the same time, Behbal Kalan Insaaf Morcha, being the lawyer of Ram Rahim in the sacrilege case, has also asked the government to remove the Advocate General.

Controversy over AG
There is a controversy over the appointment of Vinod Ghai, the top criminal lawyer of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He has been the lawyer of Dera Sacha Sauda Mukhi Ram Rahim, accused in the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Apart from opposition parties, Sikh organizations are also opposing his appointment. Behbal Kalan Insaaf Morcha, which is demanding justice in the case of sacrilege and firing in Faridkot in 2015, is also against his appointment. The Morcha demanded that the Advocate General be removed.

Earlier, Senior Advocate Vinod Ghai and his brother Bipin Ghai have been seen with BJP MP from Chandigarh Kirron Kher. This photo was tweeted by Kirron Kher himself. In which he is sitting in the house of Advocate Ghai. However, Advocate Bipin Ghai has clarified that he has nothing to do with any party. The Aam Aadmi Party itself approached him and appointed him on the basis of merit.

List released by Congress…

Congress has got a setback in this list. Congress had appointed advocate Sant Pal Singh Sidhu as senior vice chairman. He has denied the post as soon as this list came to the fore.
