New Covid cases in Rajasthan rise 38% in 24 hours, active count up 37% | Jaipur News – Times of India

JAIPUR: The state reported 5,660 Covid cases on Sunday taking its overall tally to 9,76,177. One person died, adding to the state’s toll of 8,972. The active cases increased from 14,166 to 19,467 in last 24 hours.
State’s 42 per cent Covid cases were reported from Jaipur in 24 hours, which is the worst affected across the state as it has reported 9,922 cases in January’s first nine days.

The city’s active cases have increased from 7,545 to 9,683 in just 24 hours as the city reported 2,377 positive cases on Sunday.
Compared to the daily new infections reported on Saturday, the numbers increased by 37. 7 per cent on Sunday. Besides, 37. 4 per cent active cases have also increased.
For the past eight days, the state’s active cases have been increasing by more than 30 per cent daily. The significant growth of daily new cases in the state over the past few days has now taken the active cases to 19,467. hest active cases at 9,683 followed by Jodhpur (2,330), Alwar (1,028), Udaipur (854), Bikaner (708), Ajmer (665), Kota (595) and Bharatpur (539).
In last 24 hours, Jodhpur reported 600 cases, Alwar (364), Udaipur (312), Bikaner (237), Kota (209), Bharatpur (200), Bhilwara (166), Chittorgarh (146), Ajmer (130), Dausa (109) and Pali (105).
Doctors are witnessing Covid cases in overwhelming numbers. “We are witnessing patients with cold, cough, body ache, and mild fever. Though the symptoms vanish in three to five days, the cough persists for at least a week. Some of the Omicron cases have shown upper respiratory infections. Yet compared to the last two variants, pneumonia is quite rare in the new variant. Elderlies should be careful and need to get the precautionary dose as most of them have comorbidities including diabetes and hypertension,” said Dr Prakash Keswani, senior professor (medicine), SMS medical college.
