Netflix is expanding its games catalog with the launch of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition on December 14. Here’s what you need to know.
Netflix will be offering Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition to its subscribers starting December 14—marking what is arguably the biggest addition to its games catalog yet.
This game isn’t just one game, but it consists of GTA III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas—remastered versions of them, with updated graphics. It must be noted that these games will be available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and, of course, in the Netflix mobile app.
For those uninitiated, GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas are considered some of the best Grand Theft Auto games, and now, with the remastered versions, Rockstar Games—the developer of these iconic titles—has allowed current gamers to get a taste of them as well. The game was released for multiple platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch on 11 November 2021.
Notably, this is one of the biggest additions to the Netflix gaming library and could certainly help the company grab more eyeballs as it looks to gain a chunk of the games subscription model pie currently dominated by the likes of Microsoft and PlayStation.
Earlier this month, Netflix announced other games coming to the service as well, including the debut of Hades on mobile, and several other indies like Death’s Door, a multi-platform game coming to mobile where players take on the role of a crow traversing various dungeons to gather souls for the Reaping Commission Headquarters.
Another indie classic, Braid, initially launched on the Xbox 360 in 2008, will also be available on Netflix. In Braid, players control Tim, who can manipulate the flow of time to solve a series of puzzles and rescue an abducted princess.
