Republic Day celebrations will start from 23rd January
Earlier, the central government had announced that the Republic Day celebrations would now start from January 23 instead of January 24. This decision was taken with the aim of including Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday in the Republic Day celebrations. Netaji was born on 23 January 1897.

The Government of India had announced last year that every year on 23 January, the birthday of Subhas Chandra Bose would be celebrated as Prakram Diwas. The motive behind this was that the people of the country, especially the youth, could face adversity like Netaji and instill the spirit of patriotism in them.
