Nepal PM Prachanda To Visit India From May 31-June 3, Will Discuss On Diverse Areas

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will be on a four-day visit to India from May 31 in his first overseas trip since he assumed office last year. He will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Draupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar during the trip that will conclude on June 3. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, an official release of the Ministry of External Affairs said.

“H.E. Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal will be on an official visit to India from 31 May 2023 to 03 June 2023 at the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This will be the first bilateral visit abroad by the Prime Minister of Nepal after assuming office in December 2022. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation,” the release said.

It added that during the visit, the Prime Minister of Nepal will call on President and Vice-President and will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Modi to discuss the diverse areas of the bilateral partnership between India and Nepal. Other Indian dignitaries will call on the Prime Minister of Nepal.

The Nepal PM will also be visiting Ujjain and Indore as part of his visit.

Elaborating on the visit, MEA said that the trip continues the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Nepal in furtherance of our ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. The bilateral relations between the two countries have significantly strengthened in the last few years in all areas of cooperation. “This visit underscores the importance given by both sides in adding further momentum to the bilateral partnership,” it added.

Prachanda met PM Modi in September 2019 on the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York. They talked about issues of mutual interest, such as economic cooperation and regional connectivity.

Prime Minister Modi paid a two-day state visit to Nepal in May 2018. He met with Prachanda and other Nepali leaders with the goal of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas such as connectivity, trade, and energy.

Prachanda’s first term as Prime Minister coincided with that of Modi. They met in New Delhi in September 2016 to discuss a variety of issues, including trade, infrastructure development, and regional connectivity. Prachanda paid a four-day state visit to India in April 2017. He met with PM Modi and other Indian officials during his visit. The discussions covered a wide range of topics of mutual interest, including trade, investment, energy cooperation, and cultural ties.
