Naxalites have attacked the convoy of Congress MLA Vikram Mandavi from Bijapur in Chhattisgarh. It is being told that the vehicle in which District Panchayat member Parvati Kashyap was sitting has been hit by bullets. All are said to be safe. The case is of Gangalur police station area.
According to the information, MLA Vikram Mandavi, District Panchayat member along with Congress leaders had gone to Gangalur. Nukkad Sabha was organized in the weekly Haat Bazaar here on Tuesday. While returning, Naxalites fired on moving vehicles near Padeda village. However, all the vehicles got out safely.

About 10 to 15 vehicles in the convoy
In fact, MLA Vikram Mandavi has been visiting the interior areas in his constituency for the past several days. On Tuesday, when he went to attend the Nukkad Sabha in Naxal-affected village Gangaloor, the Naxalites planned to attack him. While returning, the Naxalites were ambushed on the roadside near Padeda village. As soon as the MLA’s convoy passed, the Naxalites opened fire. There were about 10 to 15 vehicles in this convoy.
Most of the Congress leaders and public representatives of the district were present. However, all the vehicles left in time. But the car of the District Panchayat member got shot. All narrowly survived in this firing. It is being told that if the vehicles would have taken some more time to pass through, the Maoists would have ambushed the convoy in the waning evening.
Home Minister said – the soldiers had stopped going there
On the other hand, regarding this incident, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu has said that the security forces had stopped the MLA not to go there, but he left. Even after going there, he was stopped. He was asked to go by helicopter. But he did not agree and left. They have returned safely, the information about the Naxalite attack has not come to the fore. District Panchayat members were coming behind them. He has definitely said that firing has taken place. Its detailed information is being collected.

Bastar Range IG Sundarraj P has said that information has been received about firing near the vehicle of the District Panchayat member. The tire of his car is damaged. There was no harm to any public representative or any security personnel. Investigation is on regarding the incident.
Attempt to execute Jheeram-like incident
On May 25, 2013, all senior Congress leaders were returning from Jheeram under Darbha police station area of Bastar after a meeting. At the same time, in the evening itself, Naxalites attacked the convoy of Congress leaders in a similar manner. TCOC (Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign) of Naxalites is going on in Bastar. Naxalites often carry out many major incidents during TCOC. The Naxalites carried out the Jhiram incident during TCOC itself. Congress leader Mahendra Karma’s convoy was attacked by Naxalites in Jheeram valley on Sukma-Jagdalpur road.
More than 25 veteran Congress leaders and soldiers including Mahendra Karma, Vidyacharan Shukla were killed in the attack. Now looking at this TCOC of Naxalites. The force is also on alert mode. Jawans are being taken out for searching in all the districts of Bastar.
In the 2018 assembly elections, only Bhima Mandavi was able to win the election on a BJP ticket in the entire Bastar division. Congress’s Devti Karma won the by-election after his death.
BJP MLA’s bulletproof vehicle was blown up
4 years ago, BJP’s tribal leader and Dantewada MLA Bhima Mandavi was attacked by Naxalites near Shyamagiri village on 9 April 2019. Mandavi’s bulletproof vehicle was blown up by the IED blast. Later, the Naxalites sitting in ambush fired indiscriminately. MLA Bhima Mandavi, his driver and three security personnel were killed in the attack.
Voting for the Lok Sabha elections was to be held on April 11, two days after this massacre. Initial investigation revealed that the police had repeatedly asked the MLA not to go through that route. Police officials said that the road could not be secured, in which case it could be dangerous for the MLA to pass through there. Bhima Mandavi, who set out for the election campaign, ignored the police warning as it was a familiar area.
Judicial Inquiry Commission was constituted
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who returned after paying tribute to Bhima Mandavi, decided to set up a judicial commission to investigate the matter. On 8 May 2019, the government appointed former Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court, Justice Satish K. A single judicial inquiry commission headed by Agnihotri was constituted. Since then the investigation of the case is going on.
