Nagpur: Youth electrocuted while removing entangled kite from live wire | Nagpur News – Times of India

NAGPUR: A 25-year-old youth was electrocuted as he tried to recover the manja of a kite entangled with the overhead live electric wire from his terrace on Friday evening in Vijay Nagar area of east Nagpur.
The deceased Tulesh Shahu received 100% burns on the day of Makar Sankranti and succumbed to the injuries on the spot, said police.
Barring this incident, the Nagpur city police had not reported any accident pertaining to kite flying across the city, joint commissioner of police Aswati Dorje told TOI.
Different police stations across the city booked around 30 kite flyers including some minors after they were caught flying kites with banned nylon manja. All have been booked under sections 5, 15 of the Environment Protection Act 1986, the joint CP said.
The traffic policemen from 10 zones on Friday seized 547 kites and several kilometers of nylon manja dangling alongside roads from various localities in the city.
