Amid the Maharashtra political crisis, top sources in the Eknath Shinde camp have said that he will muster the numbers to show that he enjoys the support of a two-thirds majority (at least 37 MLAs) in the Shiv Sena. He is likely to approach the Governor to prove the number. The Governor will then ask Uddhav Thackeray to prove his majority, a move that is likely to fail. Shinde could then join hands with the BJP to form the government, though the BJP has maintained that it is in wait-and-watch mode.
