Mumbai: 81 Policemen Test Covid-19 Positive In Last 24 Hrs, 1312 Cops Affected Overall

New Delhi: As many as 81 Mumbai policemen tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, news agency ANI reported. This takes the tally of positive police personnel in Mumbai to 1,312.

The Mumbai police said that a total of 126 personnel have succumbed to Covid-19.

As many as 31 police personnel in Pune tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the tally of positive police personnel in the city to 465, informed Pune police.

Mumbai reported fresh 10,661 Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths on Saturday. The active caseload in the city stood at 73,518 on Saturday.

As many as 42,462 new cases and 23 deaths were reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, the state health department informed on Saturday.

There are as many as 2,64,441 active cases in the state as of Saturday.

Maharashtra reported 125 new Omicron cases on Saturday. This takes the total tally of Omicron infections reported so far in the state to 1,730.

Maharashtra continues to have the highest number of Omicron cases in India.

Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar said on Saturday that now new said restrictions will be implemented as of now. He said that existing curbs will not be relaxed, but a decision will be taken in the next week, according to media reports.
