More Covid restrictions announced in Coimbatore district | Coimbatore News – Times of India

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore City Corporation has closed public places such as parks, walking track in Race Course and leisure spots developed in waterbodies like Valankulam and Ukkadam Periyakulam as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Corporation commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara said all the parks including VOC Park, Zoo, Race Course would be temporarily closed from Saturday onwards until further orders.
On its part, the district administration stated that all the tourist spots including parks will be closed to the public from Saturday onwards. Similarly, temples in the district will also be closed for devotees.
District collector G S Sameeran said, “Covid-19 cases are increasing in Coimbatore district. We have requested citizens to strictly follow Covid appropriate behaviour and avoid public gatherings during the Pongal holidays. Celebrate Pongal with your near and dear ones at home.”
