MI Cape Town Captain: Kieron Pollard Replaces Injured Rashid Khan As Skipper Of SA20 Side

Cape Town: Kieron Pollard, the former West Indies all-rounder, replaced Rashid Khan as the captain of the MI Cape Town days before the start of the campaign on January 10 (Wednesday). While Rashid was initially named as the captain as the star Afghanistan leg-spinner continues to recover from a back surgery, he has now been replaced as the skipper.

“Rashid Khan is unavailable currently, as he continues his recovery from injury. The MI CT wish Rashid a quick recovery and look to have him back on the playing field soon,” the franchise said in an official statement released by them.

“Our Polly (Pollard), a five-time IPL Champion, a two-time CLT20 Champion, an MLC Champion, has tasted a lot of victory in the MI #OneFamily Blue and Gold. Bring on the 10th of January quickly please!,” it added.

Rashid Included In Afghanistan’s 19-Member Squad For India Series

It is pertinent to note that while Afghanistan’s designated T20I skipper Rashid has been named in the team’s three-match T20I series against India, he is unlikley to play any part in the series. It is for this reason that Ibrahim Zadran who led the team to a series win against UAE will continue to be at the helm of affairs for this series.
