SHIVAMOGGA / MYSURU: Minister KS Eshwarappa on Saturday said politicians like former PM HD Deve Gowda, former CM BS Yediyurappa and opposition leader Siddaramaiah should stay safe as the infection rate is peaking in the state. “It is my concern,” he said, and called Congress’ Mekedatu padayatra suicidal given the infection rate.
“Though Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief DK Shivakumar are arguing that they will march without their supporters, the latter will not allow that to happen. They are putting the lives of their supporters at risk. If Congress leaders think padayatra will give the party a new lease of life, they should do it after the restrictions are revoked,” he said.
In Mysuru, BJP MLA L Nagendra, who represents Chamaraja segment in the city called the Mekedatu issue a personal problem of KPCC chief DK Shivakumar. “He wants Cauvery water for his Kanakapura assembly segment. But by taking out padayatra, he is trying to project that it is a pan-Karnataka issue,” he said.
Shivakumar was the water resources minister in H”D Kumaraswamy government. He could have taken up the project, he told reporters on Saturday.
